Meet Sajjad — Player & Coach
Sajjad first moved to Australia in 2025, with his siblings in tow, and a good deal of unknown territory to learn about. The move felt isolating. Far from home, a community here was a need, and a community within football was the dream.
Football has always held a mighty place in Sajjad's life; it wasn't merely just a hobby, it was his pipeline for human connection. From watching his neighbours play and enjoy the program themselves, to stepping in and trying it himself, Sajjad knew he had found his place.
Slowly but surely, he built a home for himself, integrating with his peers and parents, really taking the time to understand them one on one, as both player and emerging coach.
One Ball didn't just provide a place for Sajjad, it continued to form a place of belonging for the rest of his family. His younger brothers and sister both share the love of the game. Sajjad has had the pleasure of watching them become more confident in themselves, wearing the values of One Ball on their sleeves as they proudly make their way in this newfound world. As an older brother, nothing has been more rewarding for him.
What started as simply a try-out session is now a way of life, living and community. Because of One Ball, Sajjad has been given the opportunity to exercise those values. Being offered a paid assistant coach position was unexpected but celebrated. Sajjad went on to help players build confidence, enjoy the game and believe in themselves.
